Clearview’s Learning Assistants Ready to Learn!

Clearview and Red Deer College have partnered up to provide additional training and supports for Clearview’s Learning and Education Assistants, building even more capacity to support students.

Clearview has 18 Learning and Education Assistants (LEAs) who are participating in the Red Deer College/Clearview Public Schools initiative. The course is entitled Introduction to Classroom Support (EDAS 111). If the participants decide to pursue their Educational Assistant certificate, this course will be counted as one credit towards it. RDC offers the Educational Assistant Program over a one year period providing an EA Certificate through on-campus and distance learning classes. Students may enroll for full-time or part-time study.

Clearview’s LEAs will have 5 full days with a Red Deer College instructor. For 3 out of the 5 class dates, the LEAs will come together with the instructor at Red Deer College during Clearview’s scheduled Professional Days.

The Learning and Education Assistants taking the course come from 7 different schools within Clearview: Byemoor, Coronation, Donalda, Erskine, Stettler Elementary, Wm. E. Hay Settler Secondary Campus and Stettler Outreach.

“We are extremely excited for this opportunity to partner with Red Deer College,” said Grant Gosse, Director of Inclusive Learning.  “By giving this opportunity for our staff, they will be better prepared and have even more capacity to support teachers and students in the classroom.  Staff are the first resource in ensuring Clearview students succeed.”
