First Year Teacher selected as 2017 Edwin Parr Award Nominee

Clearview Public Schools is pleased to announce that Aimee Roste has been selected by our Board of Trustees to represent Clearview as our nominee for the 2017 Alberta School Board Association (ASBA) Zone 4 Edwin Parr Teacher Award. Aimee is in her first year teaching Grade 5 at Stettler Elementary School.

The Edwin Parr Award recognizes outstanding work by first year teachers in Alberta. Established in 1964, it has always represented quality teaching and exemplary work.

The Board of Trustees enjoyed Aimee’s enthusiasm, high level of character, commitment to her students and passion to continue to learn.  In the letter accompanying the nomination, Principal Sharon Fischer wrote, “Aimee was a student teacher at Stettler Elementary School last year. She was very impressive then and she continues to excel and impress as a first year teacher. Miss Roste is full of new and innovative ideas and brings an energy and passion to her classroom every day that is noticeable by both her colleagues and her students.”

Aimee grew up in Stettler, attended Stettler Elementary, Middle School and graduated from Wm. E. Hay in 2012. She took her education degree at Red Deer College. She worked hard to be a top 40 applicant and successfully was accepted into the Middle Years Program.  She was able to complete an extended practicum at Stettler Elementary last year with Carmen Fox, which led her to the grade 5 position she has today.

When told her nomination would be put forward to ASBA Zone 4, Aimee said, I am very thankful to my administrators who have worked really hard through the nomination process of the Edwin Parr award, as well as the Clearview Public Schools Board of Trustees for putting forth my nomination. It means so much to me that they have not only recognised my love for teaching, but also identified how hard I have been working. I am blessed to be a part of such an amazing community of school staff and school board representatives.”

Aimee likes to spend her spare time with family, especially her niece and nephew, who have made her a very proud auntie. She loves the summer months when she can spend time at the family cabin or camping at the lake. She enjoys outdoor activities and loves dancing.

“Aimee is an excellent candidate for the Edwin Parr Award.  She embodies all the qualities we look for in a first year teacher. She is innovative, hardworking and dedicated to her students. We wish her all the best at the next stage of this competition and for the rest of the school year,” Superintendent Barron stated proudly.

The ASBA Zone 4 nominees will be celebrated at a banquet on May 29, 2017 in Red Deer where the Zone 4 winner will be announced.

Congratulations Aimee, and thank you for being part of the Clearview team!
