Clearview Public Schools is proud to celebrate and share out two "star" members of our team who are helping our students succeed.
Meet the VanOers—Carla (Teacher) and Daram (Principal). Carla grew up in the Strathmore area with her family being involved in the agriculture industry. Daram's parents were both teachers and his family lived in a variety of places in northern Alberta and the North West Territories.
They both began their teaching careers with Northland School Division, which is where they met while working at different First Nation (Cree) schools. They moved to the Donalda area and began working for Clearview about 20 years ago at the Gadsby and Botha Schools.
When Gadsby School closed, Daram took the principalship at Gus Wetter School in Castor. Carla transferred from Botha to Gus Wetter School a few years later.
Daram and Carla have three lovely daughters, Tayla, Jezlyn, and Lenae. Tayla graduated from Gus Wetter School in June, 2016 and is currently enrolled at the U of A, hoping to enter the Pharmacy program next fall.
The VanOers live in Botha and work at Gus Wetter School in Castor. Their two younger daughters attend school at Gus Wetter with Jezlyn in grade 11 and Lenae in grade 8. Carla also has been teaching dance at Rhonda McCulloch's studio (Danceology) in Stettler for the past 15 years or so, beginning shortly after their daughters began dancing.
The VanOers greatly enjoy travel, camping, fishing, and family time. Every summer, they have the chance to combine their favourite pursuits into a summer-long camping trip, usually to British Columbia or the Yukon Territory (or both!).
Thank you Daram and Carla for the work you do, and for being part of the Clearview team!
