Clearview Celebrates and Recognizes World Teachers’ Day - October 5, 2017.
World Teachers’ Day represents a significant token of the awareness, understanding and appreciation displayed for the vital contribution that teachers make to education and development.
Every day, on every continent, teachers are inspiring students and advocating for the resources and support that all students—from kindergarten through college—need and deserve. On World Teachers’ Day, October 5, we celebrate amazing teachers for dedicating themselves to the profession.
“Teachers are the heart of public education. We believe in and support our quality, creative staff who work to ensure the success of every student. We recognize and value our dedicated teachers on World Teachers’ Day and throughout the year,” said Superintendent Peter Barron.
In 1994, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) inaugurated October 5th as World Teachers’ Day to commemorate the joint UNESCO and International Labour Organization’s (ILO) signing of the Recommendations Concerning the Status of Teachers.
“Teachers help raise the next generation of Canadian teachers, Doctors, Nurses, Lawyers, Police persons, Writers, and Authors. We will have children who will grow up to help cure cancer or save the ocean from dying. Teachers have played a hand in that, and that’s extraordinary.” said Deputy Superintendent Brenda MacDonald.
