Student voice is important for our education system!
If you had a direct line to the minister … what would you say? Applications are open for the 2018-19 Minister’s Youth Council.
The Education Minister’s Youth Council gives students the opportunity to build their leadership skills, make an impact on the education system and leave a legacy that will last well into the future. The Youth Council is made up of 32 junior and senior high school students with diverse interests, identities, backgrounds and perspectives from all regions of Alberta.
The Minister’s Youth Council will have an important role in the education system. Working at the provincial level, all Council members will:
Be active and responsible members.
Be available to attend all meetings.
Share the diverse student perspective with the Minister of Education and Alberta Education staff.
Work with one another and Alberta Education staff to provide input on education issues. Interact with each other outside of meetings to discuss ideas, gather input from their communities to inform education issues, and upcoming activities.
