Band students thrilled to receive donation

The Wm. E. Hay Stettler Secondary Campus' Band Program Director Eric Rahn was presented a  $2,000 donation by Real Country 93.3 Radio hosts Alex Mykyta and Landon Peterson.

“We are thrilled to be receiving another grant from the radio station. This is, as always, a wonderful boost and will lead to the purchase of a couple of instruments and some music for the program,” said Rahn.

Real Country 93.3 Radio station has been an ongoing supporter of the music program with donations. Last year the band program used the money to purchase more instruments to help students have access to the band program. In previous years the money has been used to purchase used larger instruments, auxiliary percussion and to expand the band program’s music library.

“Music has the power to convey all sorts of emotions; from sadness to happiness to fear. Music tells a story. Music Heals. Music is a universal language. That’s why we are very proud to be donating once again to help further the musical education of Central Alberta students.” shared Mykyta and Peterson.

The funds come from contributions to Canadian Content Development (CCD) made by broadcasters to initiatives that aid in the development and promotion of Canadian musical and spoken word content for broadcast. There are many approved CCD initiatives including support of local youth orchestras for vocal, instrumental training , purchase of musical instruments or costs of concert performances.
