Superintendent's Message

Greetings everyone!

October has quickly come upon us, and our students are settling nicely into the new school year.  Harvesting is occupying the time and energy of many community members as the weather has become more favourable.   October also means Thanksgiving, a wonderful holiday that affords us the opportunity to count our blessings and express our deep appreciation for family and friends and the wonderful life we have in Central Alberta.

Read In Week

During October we celebrate literacy in Clearview with an especial focus on reading the week after Thanksgiving.  We call this week - Read In Week. Our theme this year is “Challenge Accepted - Bringing Stories to Life”. Read In Week is not a program, but rather an opportunity for each school to celebrate reading in any way it chooses. Schools were encouraged to invite community members, parents and grandparents, trustees and central office staff to read to students of any age.

To connect Read In Week to the upcoming Canada Winter Games, schools were asked to not only invite community members into their classrooms, but also the junior high and senior high sport teams into classrooms to read a book all while wearing their school team uniform/jersey.  Many thanks to students and community members who read to our students.

2019 Prime Minister’s Awards

In Clearview, we have many wonderful teachers who make a significant impact on our students.  Parents and School Councils do a great job of expressing appreciation throughout the year. If you think there is a teacher or principal who is doing a truly exceptional job, here is an opportunity you may wish to consider - nominating him/her for a Prime Minister’s Award.   The Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence, Teaching Excellence in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), and Excellence in Early Childhood Education honour exemplary teachers and early childhood educators who are preparing our youth for the innovation economy.  Prime Minister’s Awards recipients can receive:

  • Cash awards worth up to $5,000
  • A certificate from the Prime Minister
  • National recognition and promotion of their best teaching practices

Download your nomination package and a poster today by clicking on the web button below, or visiting our website at Submit your nomination electronically or by mail before January 14, 2019.

All the best for a great harvest!
