Community Initiative Support Program Approved

School Projects to Receive Funding From the Community Initiative Support Program
Posted on 05/03/2023

Clearview Trustees have reviewed all applications received for the Community Initiative Support Program and have approved the distribution of $100,000 in funds to eligible applications.

As anticipated, the Board saw a high level of interest and uptake for this pilot program.  The approved proposals possessed the largest benefit to Clearview students and greatest likelihood to succeed.  Expenditures may be spent in 2023 or 2024 and projects must be completed no later than August 31, 2024. The approved community projects are either on, or in, school areas, or are used by students towards their learning success.

"Outdoor recreational spaces are a great benefit to healthy lifestyles for our students and families,” says Guy Neitz, Board Chair.  “We are excited to partner with school councils, parent volunteers and local governments to improve recreational opportunities in our communities."

The following list details how the funds will be distributed:

Big Valley School - Playground Enhancement Project $15,000

Botha School - Playground Enhancement Project $10,000

Brownfield Community School - Public Library $5,000

Byemoor School Educational Society - Outdoor Basketball Court $5,000

Coronation School - Inclusive Playground System $20,000

Donalda School - Outdoor Playspace $17,500

Erskine School / Erskine Social Recreation Society - Outdoor Skating Rink Improvements $17,500

Gus Wetter School - Track / Soccer Field Improvements $10,000

Clearview recognizes the work done by communities and families to ensure that viable community facilities and outdoor spaces are available, both for the community at large and for the students in our division.  Such spaces are an integral part of both rural areas and the learning success of students.

Trustees will determine any future years’ dollars based on the success of this year’s program.
