Clearview School Division and its staff are donating $1,700 to help families have enough to eat over the holidays. Clearview’s Board of Trustees and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 4292 (CUPE) are working together to make the donation.

Donation to Stettler Food Bank

“We really appreciate all of the assistance from donors and volunteers that enable our local food banks to support families and individuals in our Clearview communities,” says Guy Neitz, Board Chair. "As community leaders it is a privilege to be able to help in the effort to sustain individuals and families, especially during this holiday season.”

“We’re happy to make this donation,” says Barb Gano, Treasurer of CUPE local 4292. “We know it’s been a challenging few years for people, and we want them to know their community cares about them, and specifically Clearview staff care about them.”

Donation to Big Valley Food Bank

“We are grateful for Clearview’s support and for all the support our community gives us,” says Betty Birch of the Stettler Food Bank. “We can make a difference when we work together.” The Stettler Food Bank serves more than 350 families in the community.

Trustees are donating their December 2021 per diems to provide $1300 in donations on behalf of Clearview Public Schools, in lieu of staff receiving a gift. The $1300 will be divided between food banks in Stettler, Big Valley, Coronation and Castor. CUPE is donating $400, which will be shared with the Stettler Food Bank and the Christmas Hamper Society.

The Stettler Food Bank is welcoming fresh food items such as potatoes, carrots, and apples (perishable food items that store well). If you are able to donate these items, please call to make arrangements for drop off with the Stettler Food Bank at 403-740-6733. Alternatively, cash is appreciated as it provides flexibility to the Food Bank in meeting the needs of clients. Non-perishable items are always helpful as well.
