Coronation School to transition to at-home learning for all grades

Coronation School to transition to at-home learning for all grades

Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to navigate the challenges of COVID-19 and what is best for our students. Coronation School has been deemed an alert by Alberta Health Services. The cases we are dealing with starting Saturday, April 17 are having a significant impact on our entire school community, with at least 31% of our students needing to isolate as well as 60% of our staff members.

Further, please note today an individual in Clearview has tested positive for COVID-19, impacting students and staff at Coronation School. This individual was present in the school April 21 and 22 and may have been contagious.

In consultation with Alberta Health Services and Alberta Education, we will be shifting all grades temporarily to online at-home learning beginning Monday, April 26, 2021 through to and including Friday, May 7, 2021. In collaboration with Alberta Health Services and Alberta Education, we will reassess whether we will move to in-class or continue at-home learning the weekend prior to May 10, 2021.

To assist in the transition, at-home learning will begin on Tuesday, April 27. Monday, April 26 will be a non-student day for students in Kindergarten to Grade 5, to allow school staff to plan and prepare for the next two weeks. Grade 6 -12 will extend their at-home to May 7, 2021 with all students planned to return to school on Monday, May 10, 2021.

Instruction and learning opportunities will be offered using a combination of online and paper-based materials. Classroom teachers will provide a detailed schedule so that students will have direct access to them at specified times during the day. This will ensure that we will be able to keep moving forward with the curriculum and continue the strong learning that is happening within classes. The specific details of this class schedule will be communicated to your child in a live Google meet or by a phone call on Monday, April 26, 2021 with their homeroom teacher.

We remind all parents/guardians to continue to closely monitor your children for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19. The Alberta Health daily checklist can be found here. Please remember to complete the checklist each day, whether children are attending school and/or getting on the school bus or not. As a reminder, if you/your child has any of the symptoms of illness listed on the Alberta Health daily checklist, please fill out the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811 and stay home/keep your child at home.

While this is a challenging time, we continue to trust that we can lean on one another for support and companionship. We are in this together and will be sending updates to families as information becomes available.

If you have any immediate questions, please also see Clearview's on-line information for parents at or you may contact your school on Monday.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
