Clearview Public Schools is pleased to announce that Krista Jewett has accepted the position of Principal at Byemoor School, commencing at the start of the 2023-24 school year.  Jewett is currently teaching 4-9 English Language Arts / Social, Music, Drama, Art, Career Technology Foundations, Health, and other subjects as needed at Byemoor School.

“We are very pleased that Krista Jewett will be taking on the role of Principal at Byemoor School,” says Scot Leys, Clearview Superintendent. “Jewett is very familiar with the Byemoor School and has strong ties to the Byemoor community and surrounding areas.  We welcome Krista to our administrative team and look forward to working with her to support the ongoing success of Byemoor students, staff members and the community at large!”

Jewett grew up in Woodstock, New Brunswick and moved to Alberta in 2002.  She currently lives on an acreage in the Byemoor / Big Valley area with her family and their menagerie of farm animals.  When she is not busy teaching, she spends much of her time pursuing outdoor and sporting activities such as hunting, fishing, swimming and running.

Jewett has worked in education for over seventeen years and has a well rounded teaching experience to draw from.  Prior to obtaining her B.Ed, Jewett held various roles within Clearview Public Schools and Wolf Creek School Division including play school instructor, educational assistant, and librarian.  She started her first formal teaching position during the COVID pandemic, as the Online 4-6 Teacher for Clearview Public Schools.  As mentioned above, Jewett is currently teaching a variety of classes and grades at Byemoor school where she is also the Inclusion Lead, Indigenous Education Committee Lead and the Alberta Teachers Association Representative.

I love my career as it allows me the opportunity to work with the incredible students of our small but mighty community,” explains Jewett. “Byemoor students are some of the most amazing young people I have had the pleasure to work with in my over 17 years as an educator. It has been a privilege to watch them grow, both academically and personally and I look forward to what the future holds for our students and our school!”

I am extremely excited to step into the principal position. During the last two years that I’ve had the good fortune to work in Byemoor School, I’ve built relationships with students, parents, and staff that I will cherish forever.  These connections have helped make Byemoor my home,” says Jewett.  “I have a true passion for the school and the success of our students and feel honored to be stepping into this leadership role. Together, we will build a strong educational team, build more connections within the community and grow Byemoor School into a thriving learning environment.
