Clearview Superintendent Brenda MacDonald has announced her plans to retire at the end of July 2022. The announcement went first to the Board of Trustees on February 2, 2022. 

MacDonald has worked as a teacher and in other roles in education for 36 years. When she retires in July she will have completed her seventh year working in Clearview, and her second year as Superintendent.  

MacDonald says of her time in Clearview, she is most proud of the work she and her team have done to improve literacy education, strengthening schools to be more inclusive environments that meet diverse student needs, and for increasing the focus on wellness for students and staff. MacDonald is pleased to have been part of the development of leadership training aimed at helping prepare up and coming leaders. 

“What I have loved most about my time in Clearview is the people I’ve worked with,” says MacDonald. “Our staff are great people and are very committed to students. I’ve been very fortunate to be surrounded by an amazing team. I’m also very proud of the way that team has come together in the past two years, helping each other weather the storm and keep our focus on students.” 

MacDonald is respected for her emphasis on creating a positive culture, according to Board Chair Guy Neitz. 

Neitz says, “On behalf of Clearview schools I would like to offer my sincere appreciation to Superintendent MacDonald for her service in our schools and community. Her dedication, love and passion for education and students is an inspiration to our division. Especially Brenda's message of hope and compassion has strengthened our resolve to work together to ensure our schools are safe and caring environments of learning in a disrupted world.” Neitz adds, “We wish Brenda and her family a wonderful retirement together.”

MacDonald says once she retires she plans to deepen her focus on family and friends, being a “hands-on grandma”, and enjoying activities that contribute to wellness.
