Update on the use of different types of hand sanitizer
Dear Clearview Public School Families,
After an approximately six month hiatus from in-person learning, it was exciting to have students back in our buildings to continue their learning. We appreciate the effort that students, staff and parents are making to create both a safe and enjoyable learning environment. Since operating schools in a pandemic is a new challenge, Clearview is committed to reviewing our safety plans, listening to the feedback of our families and staff, and adjusting procedures accordingly.
We have received feedback about allowing families more choice in the type of hand sanitizer used by their children. At this time, we will continue to provide and use the Government-provided sanitizer in schools; however, staff and students may provide their own sanitizer to use instead. This home provided sanitizer may be used in all situations including when entering or exiting school buses, classrooms, or schools.
Alberta Education recommends hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol but there are Health Canada approved non-alcohol based alternatives as well. We ask that families consult the Health Canada list of approved hand sanitizers and choose an approved product. Families may want to consult both the manufacturer’s labels and corresponding safety data sheet as they choose an appropriate product.
Thank you for your continued support and feedback. If you have any questions about hand sanitizers, please reach out to your child's school directly, or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
