ATA Labour Action

All Clearview Schools are closed due to the ATA strike. At this time, we do not know how long the closure will continue. Once a resolution is reached between the ATA and the Government of Alberta, we will inform families right away and share the date schools will reopen.

Alberta Education Parent Supports

To help families during this disruption, Alberta Education has announced two forms of support:

Parent Payment

  • To help offset the extra costs families may face while children are home during labour action, the province is introducing a parent payment program.
  • This support is available to parents and guardians of students aged 12 and under who attend a public, separate, or francophone school affected by the disruption.
  • Eligible parents and guardians will receive approximately $150 per child for each week of labour action.
  • Payments will be made monthly, beginning October 31, and will be retroactive to October 6.
  • Applications will be available through the Alberta.ca platform.

Parent Toolkit

  • During the strike, as per ATA guidance, teachers are not to prepare or send out learning packages. They will not be directing student learning or responding to emails while on strike. To provide support for families, Alberta Education and Childcare has created a free toolkit that parents can use to help their child’s independent learning while schools are closed.
  • The toolkit provides weekly resources aligned with the K–12 curriculum in English, French, and French Immersion.
  • Materials are currently available for two weeks of learning, with more weeks added as needed.
  • Toolkits can be downloaded at new.learnalberta.ca.
