Clearview Launches Heartland Academy: “Flexible Learning For Every Journey”

Clearview Public Schools is excited to announce the launch of Heartland Academy. An innovative learning model designed to offer flexible, career-focused education for high school students across Alberta.
Heartland Academy will open its virtual doors in July 2025, offering high school students opportunities to earn credits through hands-on learning in career education, including the Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP), Green Certificate, dual credit programs, work experience, and 1-credit CTR modules.
Real Pathways. Real Experience.
“Heartland Academy is about meeting students where they’re at and giving them meaningful, real-world options to support their learning journey,” says Jason Faber, Principal of Heartland Academy. “We’re creating space for students to explore career interests, gain certifications, and earn credits. All in a way that fits their life and schedule.”
With no fixed location, Heartland Academy is designed to serve students both within and beyond Clearview Public Schools, making it an attractive option for students who are working, pursuing specialized credentials, or whose needs don’t align with traditional school calendars.
Meet the Heartland Team
The school is led by Principal Jason Faber, with administrative support from Lori Eno. Experienced educators Amanda Hawkins and Karen Belland bring a passion for flexible instruction. At the same time, Candace Maruk, Career Engagement Facilitator, connects students with work experience placements, career pathways, and post-secondary partnerships.
Clearview Public Schools has partnered with Olds College and Red Deer Polytechnic to offer dual credit opportunities in areas such as the Health Care Aide program, Meat Processing Certification, and Veterinary Technician Assistant Certification.
Summer 2025: Learn, Work, Earn
A highlight of this summer’s offerings is the Work Experience program, which allows students to earn high school credits for their summer jobs. From retail to agriculture to trades, students can earn up to 10 credits toward graduation, all while gaining valuable real-world skills.
“Students don’t have to choose between school and work,” says Candace Maruk. “At Heartland Academy, work is learning. We’re here to help students get credit for the skills they’re already building.”
Students can start anytime in July or August, with all coursework completed by August 31, 2025.
Open to All Alberta High School Students
Enrollment is now open to all Alberta high school students, including those not currently enrolled in a Clearview school. A short interest form is available online.
Heartland Academy is also planning for future growth, with plans to expand programming to support home education students and learners needing core academic programming on flexible timelines.
